Recently, China Institute of Communications (CIC) sent a letter to HUST, which said that the institute has approved the establishment of the Committee on Short-distance Wireless Communications of CIC, and recommended Qiu Caiming, Dean of EIC, as the Director of the committee. The committee aims to build a platform for facilitating the industry-school-research cooperation, build a top think tanks and organize various academic discussions, and contribute to the establishment and improvement of technical standards related to new-generation short-distance wireless communications. It also provides professional advice for industry authorities, promotes the application of major technology achievements and trains talents.
Short-distance wireless communications can be applied in industries and households. EIC has laid a solid foundation for the research on short-distance wireless communications, and has led or participated in many major national projects. EIC has also conducted cooperation in depth with many leading companies in the industry through Joint Innovation Center of Industry-Education-Research, playing an important role in industry upgrade and R& D of new products. The approval of the establishment Committee on Short-distance Wireless Communications of CIC shows the recognition of the efforts made by EIC in the field. The committee will also help EIC develop its discipline.
