The school of EIC successfully held “Frontier Technology for Information and Communications Summer School”. Four international high-level experts such as Prof. Tao Dacheng from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, Prof. Vicent Pla and Prof. Luis Guijarro from Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain, were invited to deliver lectures. More than 60 students from 19 countries including China, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, and Kenya participated in this summer school.
EIC also received students from “Chinese Language + AI Robot Summer School", who are from universities like the University of Birmingham, RWTH Aachen University, Nanyang Technological University, and Chulalongkorn University.
Prof. Tao Dacheng gave a lecture on "Dao and Shu in Foundation Models", combining the development of AI foundation models with Chinese philosophy. He vividly introduced the development of foundation models and the challenges they face in its engineering use. He also inspired students to think about the working mechanism of foundation models and how to better explore its practice.
Prof. Vicent Pla has a profound research background for queuing theory and performance analysis. He introduced the application of matrix analysis methods in queuing models. This advanced mathematical model and its application in optimizing network performance have aroused students’ strong interest.
Prof. Luis Guijarro discussed the economics of integrated sensing and communication service provision in 6G networks, which explored the innovative models and economic benefits of integrated sensing and communication services. He also introduced the development prospects, trends, challenges, and potential market value of 6G networks.
Prof. Liu Wei from EIC gave a report on "Overview of Digital China" to the students from the “Chinese Language + AI Robot Summer School". The report provided students with a comprehensive understanding of China's current digitalization process. students showed strong interest and shared their experiences in "Digital China" during this period.
This summer school has built a bridge for face-to-face communication between students and international teachers and provided students with cutting-edge knowledge.
