Recently, 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics have come to a successful end in Beijing. The anti-counterfeiting traceability system and credentials authentication equipment developed by the National Anti-counterfeiting Engineering Research Center of the School of Electronic Information and Communications (EIC) have made contributions to the “Two Olympics”. With the help of the technologies, visually impaired athletes can learn the information of guide dogs easily, and foreign athletes and guests can enjoy fast and convenient security checks.
During the Winter Paralympics, guide dogs, as “the second pair of eyes” of visually impaired people, have drawn lots of attention again. For the first time, guide dogs serving in the Paralympics wear the trace code with Chinese independent intellectual property rights. By scanning the code, people can conveniently learn the detailed information of guide dogs such as their breed, age, and information about their training and service.
The trace code comes from the China Product Quality Traceability System Online Platform. The platform, as an authoritative third-party tracing platform in China, is jointly developed by the National Anti-counterfeiting Engineering Research Center led by EIC and China Association of Rural Cooperative Economy Administration. The platform also intends to provide anti-counterfeiting tracing service for smart products designed for physically challenged people and elderly people.
Moreover, the equipment for credentials authentication with independent intellectual property rights developed by the center were officially applied at the security self-check channels at Beijing Daxing International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport. The moment the foreign athletes arrived in China, they can feel the “technological energy” of Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics.
