China International Joint Research Center of Green Communications and Networking, directed by Professor Ge Xiaohu from School of Electronic Information and Communications of Huazhong University of Science & Technology, was approved as a state international collaboration base by the Ministry of Science and Technology in October 2015. The center aims to promote the high quality international cooperation in the energy efficiency of wireless communications and networks. Moreover, its research focuses on saving the energy consumption in telecommunication industry and promoting the low-carbon society in China. The center has established long-term, stable, extensive and win-win cooperation with a number of well-known universities as well as research institutes in the UK, Germany, France, the U.S., Australia, etc. Under the leadership of Professor Ge Xiaohu, Director of the center, it has made great achievements in the construction of international technology cooperative networks, academic exchange and talent training. The center has made significant contributions to helping domestic innovation subjects better utilize international innovation resources of science and technology and building international technology cooperation channels for relevant departments. It not only promotes the development of regional economy and industries, but also helps China play an increasingly important role in the global filed of information and communications of high energy efficiency.
Members of the center have long engaged in the research on green communications and networking. It has provided strong support for the discipline construction and discipline ranking of EIC, which is also an important national platform supporting the discipline of Information and Communications Engineering.
In recent years, members of the center have published over 220 high-level papers in various fields, including stochastic geometry and queuing theory, game theory, networking management and resource allocation and optimization of network performance, among which 136 papers are published in international journals. Members of the center have also hosted or participated in six national key/ major projects in the field of green communications and networking and the next generation mobile communication system, five international collaboration projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, three projects of the Seventh Framework Program (FP7) of the European Union and two projects of the Horizon 2020 Program. The center has been granted the research funding of more 30 million CNY. The center is awarded the grade of excellence in the annual ranking conducted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, which is the only international collaboration base of science and technology awarded the grade of excellence in the field of information and communications nationwide. The research team was also awarded the second prize of the Natural Science Award of Hubei Province and the second prize of the Science and Technology Award of China Institute of Communications. The papers composed by the team have also won the award of IEEE Communications Society for the best paper, the only IET Networks best paper award in 2017, and the best paper award of a number of international conferences, including IEEE Globecom 2010, IEEE IWCMC 2015, European Wireless Conference 2016, IEEE WPMC 2016, IEEE/CIC ICCC 2017.
