Recently, EIC and Wuhan Shannon AI Tech Co., Ltd have signed an agreement to jointly establish an Artificial Intelligence Innovation Institute (AIII). The two sides will share their resources in technology development, industry, talents and innovation to extend the application of AI in manufacturing, digital content, distributed storage, fire fighting, medicine and pan entertainment.

AIII is led by EIC, with Professor Ge Xiaohu, Vice Dean of EIC, as the Director of Board of Governance, and Professor Zhu Ming as the Director and Technical Director of the institute. Faculty of EIC and their research teams will undertake the R& D work.

The institute has gathered many experts in AI, with 10 core team members, all of whom have doctoral degree and have long been engaged in AI research. The institute has also invited many foreign experts such as Thomas Sargent, the Nobel Prize winner in economic sciences, Sheldon Glashaw, the Nobel Prize winner in physics and H Abed, IEEE Fellow. EIC is encouraging more doctoral students and postgraduate students to join the R& D team.
